Welcome to St. Chad
Saint Chad is a Missionary
Archdiocese with its
home base in Jacksonville, Florida,
but with a reach that touches the world.
Led and empowered by the
Spirit of Christ, we believe that God calls us to flesh out the Good
News of Jesus Christ in our personal and corporate lives.
To accomplish this we commit ourselves to:
-
Know Christ as our life and source
-
To make Him known to the "ends of the earth
-
To enable followers of Christ to respond to His
call
Our four basic statements are:
-
The
Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as "containing all
the things necessary for salvation" and as being the rule and
ultimate standard of faith.
-
The
Apostle's Creed, as the Baptismal Symbol; and the Nicene Creed, as
the sufficient statement of faith.
-
The two
Sacraments ordained by the Christ Himself - Baptism and the Supper
of the Lord - ministered with unfailing use of Christ's words of
institution, and the elements ordained by Him.
-
The
Historic Episcopate, locally adapted in the methods of its
administration to the varying needs of the nations and peoples
called of God in the Unity of His Church.

The History of Saint Chad
The
Diocese of St. Chad was officially started on Jan. 5th, 2007, when Dr.
Charles Travis (left) was consecrated Bishop of the newly formed St.
Chad. In little more than a year God has truly blessed our diocese, with
a number of new bishops, priests, canons and deacons being made,
ordained and/or consecrated, to say nothing of the lay people that have
joined St. Chad churches. In fact, on April 4th, 2007, at the first
annual convocation of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches,
two new bishops (Bishop David Scott and Bishop Samuel Imong) were
consecrated to the Diocese of St. Chad; in addition, two canons (Canon
Gloria Kennedy and Canon Shirley Woods) were ordained, one priest
(Father Roger LeBlanc) was ordained, one priest (Jacob Danner) was
received from the Charismatic Episcopal Church and one deacon (Judith
Howell) was made a deacon.
It is no exaggeration to say that St. Chad is
growing by leaps and bounds. Currently, there are two Orders in St.
Chad: The Order of Chaplains under Bishop Scott and The Order of
Reconciliation under Abbot-elect Fr LeBlanc. In addition, there are
seven assisted living Parishes under Bishop Scott. Furthermore, there
are six Postulants in training in Nigeria and five mission parishes to
come into the Diocese later this year. With everything that is going on
in St. Chad, it will be exciting to see what God does in our Diocese in
2008. |
